HÀ NỘI — Athletes from Bình Dương dominated the National Juniors Tennis Championships, which closed yesterday in Cần Thơ City.
Following eight days of competition, Bình Dương won six of the 14 titles being awarded.
Among the winners was Huỳnh Minh Thịnh, who beat Lê Trung Tính of Military team 6-3, 7-6 (3) 6-3 in the boys U18 singles event.
Meanwhile, Lê Từ Khánh Duy won 6-3, 6-2 against Trần Tiến Thịnh of HCM City in the boys U16 category.
Phan Diễm Quỳnh triumphed in the girls’ U14, beating teammate Nguyễn Minh Thúy Hằng 6-0, 6-0.
HCM City came second with three gold medals in the boys U16 doubles, boys U14 singles and girls U16 doubles, along with four silver medals.
Hà Nội were third with three gold medals and two silvers.
Nearly 300 athletes participated in the competition, organised annually by the Việt Nam Tennis Federation, which is searching for new talent for the national teams. — VNS
