HÀ NỘI — Ong Soon Seng won the 70km category of the Tam Đảo Mountain Trail, which concluded in Tam Đảo Town in Vĩnh Phúc Province yesterday.

Malaysian Seng of Asia Trail Master team took the lead with a timing of 9 hours and 1 minute.

Cao Ngọc Hà, a Vietnamese amateur runner of Long Distance Runners team, finished second, 20 minutes after Seng.

Yuen Wan Ho Isaac (Hong Kong) of Asia Trail Master team and Hà’s teammate were the runners-up.

With this result, Seng has been listed No 1 among the top 10 of the Asia Trail Master Championship, while Hà entered the top 5.

Hà won the Việt Nam Jungle Marathon (VJM) held in Pù Luông Nature Reserve in the central province of Thanh Hóa last month. He finished third in February’s Ultra Trail Koh Chang in Thailand. Last year, Hà finished second at the Việt Nam Mountain Marathon (VMM) in Sa Pa District, Lào Cai Province.

Asia Trail Master is an annual series of trail running races, managed by Kuai Sports Promotions Ltd in Hong Kong and featuring a championship based on a points system.

Three events held in Việt Nam, namely VJM, VMM and Tam Đảo Mountain Trail, belong to Asia Trail Master’s system.

“This tournament was more difficult than I expected. Tam Đảo has beautiful roads but has many slopes. Seng is very strong. I need to improve many things if I take part in a bigger event,” said Hà.

The event attracted more than 200 runners competing in 70km, 42km, 21km and 10km categories. — VNS
