VN bag more golds in Thai athletics event

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam won four more golds and one more silver on the second day of the Thailand Open Track and Field Championship in Bangkok on June 13.

The gold medals were won by Vũ Đức Anh in the men’s high jump after he cleared the bar of 2.16m; Dương Văn Thái in the men’s 800m with a time of 1 minute and 52 seconds; Vũ Thị Ly in the women’s 800m with a time of 2 minutes and 11 seconds; and Nguyễn Thị Oanh in the women’s 3,000m hurdle with a time of 10:13.05.

Nguyễn Thành Nhân bagged a silver medal in the men’s high jump.

On the first day of the competition, Việt Nam pocketed five gold, one silver and five bronze medals. Thái won the men’s 1,500m event timing 3:55.66, while Ly took the lead in the women’s 1,500m, timing 4:40.93.

The competition will end on June 15. Nearly all ASEAN countries have sent their athletes to the event, which is a warm-up for the Southeast Asian Games in August in Malaysia. — VNS
