HÀ NỘI — The 10th national sports festival of ethnic minority groups in the central, south central and Central Highlands provinces and HCM City officially opened in Đắk Lắk on Wednesday.

The event attracted the participation of athletes from 17 regional provinces and cities, including Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Lâm Đồng, Bình Phước and Quảng Nam.

The athletes will compete in seven sports -- football, volleyball, stick-pushing and crossbow shooting, as well as tug of war, running and walking on stilts.

The festival is designed to introduce and honour cultural values and traditional sports of ethnic minority groups, preserve folk games and widely develop physical training.
