HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam have been placed in Group H of the East zone qualifiers for the 2018 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U19 Championship.

This was announced following the draw in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia yesterday.

The team have a great chance to reach the finals as they face minnows Laos, Chinese Taipei and Macau.

Meanwhile, Thailand will meet defending champions Japan, Singapore and Mongolia in Group I.

There are 43 teams from Asian countries and territories participating in the qualifying round. They will be divided into 10 groups. The top team of each group and the five best runners up will qualify for the finals.

The qualifying rounds will take place from October 31 to November 8.

In other news, Việt Nam U16s are in Group I alongside Australia, Mongolia and Cambodia in qualifying for the 2018 AFC U16 Championship.

There are 45 teams participating in the tournament to be held on September 16-24 in Mongolia. They will also be divided into 10 groups. The 15 best teams will make the finals, alongside the hosts. — VNS
