Viên wins two golds at Speedo Sectionals

Vietnamese top female swimmer Nguyễn Thị Ánh Viên won two golds and one silver at the Speedo Sectionals 2017 tournament held in Indianapolis, US from March 30 to April 2.

HÀ NỘI — Viet Nam’s top female swimmer Nguyễn Thị Ánh Viên won two golds and one silver at the Speedo Sectionals 2017 tournament held in Indianapolis, US from March 30 to April 2.

Viên finished first in the women’s 400m medley with a time of 4:44.94. She continued her dominance in the 200m freestyle with a time of 2:00.51.

The Cần Thơ-born Viên also came to second in the 400m freestyle after clocking a time of 4:16.45.

Overseas Vietnamese swimmer Lê Nguyễn Paul also performed well. Paul won gold in the men’s 200m medley with a time of 2:03.86. He also took silver medals in the 100m butterfly with a time of 55.34secs and 100m backstroke with a time of 56.18secs.

To prepare for coming international tournaments, Viên and Hoàng Quý Phước are training abroad. Phước is training in Hungary.

Lâm Quang Nhật and Trần Duy Khôi are training in Thailand from April 1 to June 20 and then they will leave for China from July 1. — VNS
