Việt Nam women’s football team drop one place to No 33 in the world ranking in the first quarter of 2017.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam women’s football team dropped one place to finish No 33 in the world ranking for the first quarter of 2017.

The team played no matches in the first three months of the year.

Việt Nam are No 7 in Asia and second in the Southeast Asia, ranking behind Thailand who are world No 29.

The team are training in Hà Nội to prepare for the 2018 Asian championship, which starts next week here.

Việt Nam are in Group D with Myanmar, Iran, Syria and Singapore.

They will compete in a round robin format, with the best contender advancing to the finals.

The tournament will wrap up on April 11. — VNS
