HÀ NỘI — The National Kickboxing Clubs Championships kicked off yesterday in the southern province of Bình Phước.

The event attracted the participation of more than 20 clubs across the country. Athletes will compete in 28 categories in knock-out format.

The annual event, which aims to help kickboxers hone their skills and gain experience for the upcoming international tournaments, will last until March 28.

Kickboxing is a group of stand-up combat sports based on kicking and punching, historically developed from karate, muay Thai, Kun Khmer and boxing. Kickboxing is practiced for self-defense, general fitness, or as a contact sport. — VNS
