HÀ NỘI — The national women’s football team will gather to prepare for the 2018 Asian Championship’s qualification.

Twenty-six players have been called up and will train under coach Mai Đức Chung for one month starting from March 1 in Hà Nội.

Hà Nam Province contributed seven players. Hà Nội and HCM City have six each. Việt Nam Coal and Minerals contributed five and Thái Nguyên Province two.

Two young aces, Hà Thị Nhài of Việt Nam Coal and Minerals and Đỗ Thị Nguyên of Hà Nam, are making their debut for the senior national team.

Players will train at the Youth Football Training Centre. They will have one week of intensive training in Thanh Hóa before playing up to five friendly matches.

“This training will help players gradually get ready for competition and then try their best at the coming event on hometurf,” said Chung.

The tournament will be held on April 3-11 in Hà Nội. Việt Nam are in Group D with Myanmar, Iran, Syria and Singapore. — VNS
