Nam knocked out of China F1 tennis

Viet Nam’s top tennis player Lý Hoàng Nam was knocked out in the semi-finals of the China F1 Men’s Futures losing in men’s doubles yesterday in Anning Province.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s top tennis player Lý Hoàng Nam was knocked out in the semi-finals of the China F1 Men’s Futures losing in men’s doubles yesterday in Anning Province.

Nam and his partner Sun Fajing of China lost 1-6, 4-6 to Italian Marco Bortolotti and Croatian Nino Serdarusic, who seeded No 2, in a 65-minute match.

Bortolotti and Serdarusic will face Brandon Walkin and Thomas Fancutt of Australia in the final.

Bortolotti earlier defeated Sun 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 to earn his berth in the semi-finals of the singles. He will meet No 1 seed Danilo Petrovic of Serbia who eliminated Nam in the second round two days ago.

In other semis, unseeded Yan Bai of the hosts will take on No 2 Jose Statham of New Zealand.

The tournament will wrap up on Sunday with a total of US$15,000 prize money up for grabs. — VNS
