HÀ NỘI — Southeast Asian (SEA) Games champions Nguyễn Thị Thanh Phúc has decided to retire.

The speed walker dominated the national tournament and the SEA Games for nearly 10 years since 2009.

Phúc got married late last year and wants to pay her attention to the new family.

During her career, her best result was a berth to compete at the London Olympics in 2012.

The national athletic team with 60 members have been summoned in Hà Nội, HCM City, Cần Thơ and Đà Nẵng from the beginning of this year to prepare for their tournament calendar later this year, in which the 29th SEA Games in Malaysia is the most important. — VNS
