HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese representative Saigon Heat will play Taiwan’s Kaohsiung Truth for their first win of the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) season today at the Kaohsiung Municipal Senior High School.

Both the Truth and the Heat are winless heading into this match-up and something will have to give when these two teams go head-to-head.

The Truth suffered four straight defeats in the hands of Alab Pilipinas and Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions before the Christmas break while the Heat suffered three losses in a row on home turf.

The absence of key Christien Charles due to injury is attributed to the defeats of the Heat who despite adding new player Herbert Hill failed to find power.

The Heat will have to lean on another herculean effort from Lenny Daniels. He is currently leading the team in points at 23 a game and in rebounds with 13 per contest.

And they are waiting for the debut of former ABL most valuable player Charles.

The Truth have a pair of players that can finally change their fortune. In their previous game, the Truth debuted two new Heritage Imports, Filipinos Raymar Jose and Achie Iñigo. The two have had a stellar amateur career playing in the Philippines and they hope to bring their game to Kaohsiung. — VNS
