Vietnamese sharpshooter Vinh remains world No 1

Vietnamese top shooter Hoàng Xuân Vinh is the world No 1 in the men’s 10m air pistol event, according to the latest International Sport Shooting Federation ranking in January.

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese top shooter Hoàng Xuân Vinh is the world No 1 in the men’s 10m air pistol event, according to the latest International Sport Shooting Federation ranking in January.

Vinh won a gold medal and set a new world record in the Olympic Rio 2016. He now has 3,261 points. Brazilian Wu Felipe Almeida, who won silver medal, ranks second in the world rankings. Vietnamese sharp shooter Trần Quốc Cường remained in 31st place.

In the men’s 50m pistol pool, South Korea’s Jin Jongoh, who triumphed in Rio, ranks first. Silver Olympic medallist Vinh ranks second. Meanwhile Cường dropped five steps to world No 39. — VNS
