Việt Nam’s national men’s football team have dropped five spots to 134th place in the latest FIFA rankings.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s national men’s football team have dropped five spots to 134th place in the latest FIFA rankings.

The team were routed in the semi-final of the ASEAN Football Federation Suzuki Cup and they were deducted 17 points to rank third in Southeast Asia.

Although Thailand took the trophy at the Suzuki Cup they haven’t returned to the No 1 position in the region. Thailand gained 19 points for their achievement and rose three steps to world No 126, and ranked second in the region. While dropping three spots to No 120, the Philippines still led the region.

In Asia, Iran, world No 29, are still the top team. South Korea, No 37 and Japan, No 45 are the runners-up.

Argentina still lead the rankings, followed by Brazil and Germany.

The next FIFA rankings will be announced on January 14. — VNS
