HÀ NỘI — The Army and Student Cross-Country Tournament closed in HCM City on Sunday.

The event attracted 2,000 athletes — both armed forces and militia soldiers and students — competing in men’s 6km and women’s 3km.

In the army event, Mai Thanh Duy and Lê Minh Tài of Gia Định regiment won gold and silver medal, while Nguyễn Hoàng Phúc of Scout Task Force took bronze.

In the men’s militia force, Nguyễn Quốc Duy, Nguyễn Hải Ninh of the Military Headquarters of District 1 received the gold and silver medals, while the bronze medal belonged to Thái Hữu Quý of Military Headquarters of District 6.

In the women’s militia force, Trần Thanh Trúc of the Military Headquarters of District Bình Tân took first place, while Nông Thị Biên of the Military Headquarters of District 8 and Lê Xuân Hồng of the Military Headquarters of District 6 were the runners-up.

In the boys’ student category, Tô Tấn Tài, Nguyễn Phi Cường of Nguyễn Thị Định Gifted School won gold and silver and Châu Hoàng Thế Lân of Cần Giờ District took bronze medal.

In the girls’ student division, Nguyễn Thị Lan Thanh of Cần Giờ District was the victor, while Lê Thị Thanh Nhàn of District 12 and Trần Lê Khanh of District 2 bagged the silver and bronze, respectively.

The tournament celebrated the 70th anniversary National Resistance Day (December 19) and the 72nd anniversary of the Việt Nam People’s Army (December 22). — VNS
