HÀ NỘI — Top Vietnamese female swimmer Nguyễn Thị Ánh Viên failed in the women’s 200m medley at the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m), which wrapped up in Canada yesterday.

Viên couldn’t reach the final round after ranking 10th in the qualifying round with a time of 2:10.69.

Last year, Viên won a bronze medal in this category at the FINA World Cup in Moscow, with a time of 2:12.33.

Earlier, in the women’s 400m medley, the Cần Thơ-born Viên overcame the qualifying round but was disqualified in the final round because of a false start.

At the Asian Swimming Championships last month, Viên won one a gold and two bronzes. — VNS
