Ngân named member of WKF commission

Vietnamese karate martial artist Nguyễn Hoàng Ngân has been appointed as member of World Karate Federation Athletes Commission, according to Vũ Sơn Hà, head of karate section of the National Sports Administration.

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese karate martial artist Nguyễn Hoàng Ngân has been appointed as a member of the World Karate Federation (WKF) Athletes Commission, according to Vũ Sơn Hà, head of the karate section of the National Sports Administration.

Ngân is considered the “Kata queen’ of Việt Nam. She is member of the Ministry of Public Security team.

32-year-old Ngân won gold medals in 2006 and 2008 at the World Karate Championships. She won gold in the World Games in 2009, a gold medal at the Kobe Osaka International World Cup in 2007, a silver medal at the Asian Games in 2014 and many golds at the Southeast Asian Games.

Last year, Ngân and her teammates Đỗ Thị Thu Hà and Nguyễn Thị Hằng won the only gold medal for Việt Nam at the Asian Karate Federation Championships, held in Yokohama, Japan. — VNS
