Ánh Viên won bronze medal 200m freestyle

Nguyễn Thị Ánh Viên came third and won bronze medal at the finals of the ongoing Asian Swimming Championship’s women’s 200m freestyle event in Tokyo on November 18 evening. Her time record was 1min 59sec 31.

HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Thị Ánh Viên won a bronze medal at the ongoing Asian Swimming Championships in the women’s 200m freestyle event in Tokyo yesterday in a time of 1 minute 59 31 seconds.

Swimming in lane seven, Viên was at an early disadvantage as she finished sixth during the semi-finals. After the first 50m she was fifth before she pulled of Igarashi Chihiro of Japan.

In the last 50m Viên squeezed past Aoki Tomomi, also of the hosts, to finish third.

Chen Duo of China came first, winning gold medal in 1 minute 56.71 seconds while her fellow Chinese Al Yanhan grabbed sliver in 1 minute 57.35 seconds. — VNS
