Viên enters Asian 200m freestyle final in Tokyo

HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Thị Ánh Viên booked a berth in the finals of the Asian Swimming Championship’s women’s 200m freestyle event in Tokyo on November 18 morning, finishing sixth eight finalists with a time of 2min 4.19sec.

The top two places were taken by Al Yanhan of China and Chihiro Igarashi of Japan.

At the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore last year, Viên had won a gold medal with a record time of 1:59.27.

In other events at the championship, Trần Duy Khôi qualified for the men’s 200m backstroke, finishing third in the qualification rounds with a time of 2:06.01 behind Li Guangyuan if China and Kaneko Masaki of Japan. — VNS
