Nam rises nine spots in ATP rankings

Viet Nam’s top tennis player Lý Hoàng Nam rose nine places in the latest Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings announced yesterday.

HÀ NỘI — Viet Nam’s top tennis player Lý Hoàng Nam rose nine places in the latest Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings announced yesterday.

19-year-old Nam jumped from world No 629 to 620th place in the men’s singles category.

Nam improved his position after reaching the second round of the Việt Nam F8 Futures tennis tournament that ended recently in the southern province of Bình Dương.

Nam is expected to jump up several spots in the world rankings which will be released next week as he entered the quarter-finals of the Việt Nam F9 Futures which concluded on Saturday. However, the ATP hasn’t updated this yes.

In the men’s doubles rankings, Nam rose two spots from 714th position to 712th. His rankings will also be increased next week as he triumphed in the men’s doubles event at the Việt Nam F9 Futures.

Nam aims to rank in the top 500 men’s singles players this year. — VNS
