Nam, Ti win first tennis doubles of F9 Futures

HÀ NỘI — Lý Hoàng Nam and partner Ti Chen won the first round match of the Việt Nam Men’s Futures F9 tennis tournament yesterday in Bình Dương Province.

The No 1 seed duo beat Gary Kushnirovich of the US and Vũ Artem of Việt Nam 6-4, 6-2 in a 73-minute match.

They will play Vietnamese wildcard pair Lê Công Tiễn and Trịnh Linh Giang who defeated Chinese Gong Xiao and Li Zhao-tai 6-3, 6-3 yesterday.

In the singles event, Vũ Artem also lost 2-6, 3-6 to Indian Sasi Kumar Mukund, No 1 seed.

No 2 Karol Drzewiecki of Poland overcame American Patrick Davidson 6-3, 7-5.

The tournament is the last of a series of nine Men’s Futures events held in Việt Nam.

A pocket of US$10,000 and bonus points are available for the winners. — VNS
