HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese Nguyễn Quốc Hy won a silver medal at the World Cadets U8, U10 and U12 Chess Championships, which ended on October 30 in Georgia.

Hy, playing in the Open U10 category, grabbed 8.5 points after seven wins and three draws for his second position in the final ranking.

Việt Nam sent a team of nine competitors to Georgia. Hy was the only master named in the top three of the annual tournament.
