HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam will play its second friendly match within four days without four key players.
The team that beat North Korea 5-2 on Thursday will face hosts Indonesia tomorrow in Yogyakarta City, while midfielder Quế Ngọc Hải is left in HCM City because of an injury suffered in the early minutes in the Korean game. He would need at least one month to recover, said officials.
Meanwhile, his teammates, Nguyễn Công Phượng, Nguyễn Tuấn Anh and Lương Xuân Trường, can not join them because they are being asked to return to their clubs in Japan and South Korea to continue their local tournaments.
Anh and Trường started in the first line-up of Việt Nam against North Korea, and they each scored once during that match.
Trường, whose performance was appreciated by South Korean media, has caught the eyes of scouts from K-League clubs. He is said to have received offers from Jeonbuk Motors and four other teams. His contract with Incheon United remains in force for one more year.
One month later, Việt Nam will play another friendly with Indonesia.
Both teams are preparing for the ASEAN Football Federation Cup in November. — VNS
