HÀ NỘI — The Việt Nam futsal team won the fair play award following their impressive performance at the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup.

Việt Nam only received four yellow cards during four matches and they earned a ticket to compete in the round of 16 of the event.

Việt Nam beat Guatemala 4-2 and lost to Paraguay and Italy 1-7 and 0-2 in the group round. In the round of 16, Việt Nam lost to Russia 0-7.

The tournament wrapped up in Colombia yesterday, with Argentina claiming the title after defeating Russia 5-4. Iran took third place after a 4-3 penalty shootout win over Portugal following a 2-2 draw.

Việt Nam’s futsal team will gather in HCM City today to prepare for the coming Southeast Asian tournament.— VNS
