HÀ NỘI — Lý Hoàng Nam, the last local player left at the Việt Nam F6 Men’s Futures, bowed out yesterday, losing to No 4 seed Yusuke Takahashi in Bình Dương Province.

Takahashi was the third Japanese rival Nam played at the tournament. Nam won the first set of the singles’ quarterfinal round 6-4.

He, however, failed to keep up the momentum in the next two sets, losing 3-6, 1-6.

Earlier, Nam, who won both the singles and doubles titles at the F5 event last week, was disqualified from the doubles event in the first round.

In other matches of the day, No 1 Chen Ti from Chinese Taipei won 6-1, 6-4 against Oh Chen-yeong of South Korea; No 2 Ochi Makoto, another Japanese, beat No 7 Bowen Ouyang of China 7-6 (5), 6-2; and Chinese No 3 Gao Xin won a hard-fought match against Japan’s Shiga Masato 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4). — VNS
