Việt Nam to volley for Asian fifth position

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam lost 23-25, 23-25, 23-25 to Kazakhstan in the quarter-finals of the Asian Volleyball Confederation Cup for Women yesterday in Vĩnh Phúc Province.

Việt Nam will meet Iran again today in a match to vie for fifth position. Previously, on September 14, the hosts defeated Iran 25-27, 25-22, 25-21, 20-25, 12-15 during the qualification round.

In today’s semi-finals, Kazakhstan will play Japan, who defeated Iran 25-21, 20-25, 25-21, 25-21 in another quarter-final match yesterday.

The other semis will see Thailand compete against China.

Thailand beat South Korea 25-6, 25-12, 25-20, while China won 25-19, 25-15, 25-12 over Chinese Taipei in the quarter-finals. — VNS
