Tùng finishes fifth in 100m freestyle at Paralympics

Vietnamese Paralympics swimmer Võ Thanh Tùng ranked fifth in his final category, the men’s 100m freestyle S5, at the Rio Paralympics in Brazil yesterday.

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese Paralympics swimmer Võ Thanh Tùng ranked fifth in his final category, the men’s 100m freestyle S5, at the Rio Paralympics in Brazil yesterday.

He clocked a time of 1:18.02 in the final round. However, in the qualifying round, Tùng, born in the southern province of Cần Thơ, performed better, with a time of 1:17.64.

The gold medal in this competition was won by Brazil’s Dias Daniel.

The Việt Nam team finished the Paralympics with one gold, thanks to power lifter Lê Văn Công, one silver earned by Tùng in the 50m freestyle, two bronzes by power lifter Đặng Thị Linh Phượng and javelin thrower Cao Ngọc Hùng. — VNS
