Vietnamese player qualifies for F4 tennis tourney

Lý Hoàng Nam advanced to the second round of the Việt Nam Men’s Futures F4 tennis tournament in Bình Dương Province yesterday.The Vietnamese champion defeated Fujii Shinta of Japan 6-3, 6-4 in the men’s singles event.

HÀ NỘI — Lý Hoàng Nam advanced to the second round of the Việt Nam Men’s Futures F4 tennis tournament in Bình Dương Province yesterday.The Vietnamese champion defeated Fujii Shinta of Japan 6-3, 6-4 in the men’s singles event.

He will next play No 6 seed Yusuke Takahashi, also from Japan, who beat his fellow countryman Tokuda Renta 6-2, 6-4 in the first round match.

Two other Vietnamese were ousted, leaving Nam alone in the competition’s singles race.

Trịnh Linh Giang lost 4-6, 6-7 (7), 2-6 to South Korea’s Choi Seungri, while Nguyễn Văn Phương was defeated by No 5 seed Bowen Ouyang from China 3-6, 1-6.

In today’s action, Huỳnh Minh Huy and Lê Công Tiễn of Việt Nam will play Yusuke and Renta in the doubles match. — VNS
