HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s Thông Tin Liên Việt Post Bank foiled an aggressive Foton Pilipinas of the Philippines during their qualification match of the Asian Volleyball Confederation Women’s Club Championships.
The game was played on September 4 in Binan City in the Philippines.
Unflinching despite a 2-1 set deficit, the Vietnamese regrouped at the net and on the floor to crank up their defense right on time, coming from behind to win 25-18, 19-25, 20-25, 25-12, 15-8 in their first game of Pool A.
Liên Việt Post Bank will next play Hong Kong’s Kwai Tsing who lost 25-20, 25-14, 25-10 to Foton Pilipinas on September 3 at the Alonte Arena.
Also on September 4, Japanese NEC Red Rockets defeated Jakarta Elektrik PLN of Indonesia 25-16, 25-15, 25-17 in Pool C. Thai Bangkok Glass, with Vietnamese spiker Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Hoa, won 25-13, 25-10, 21-25, 25-16 against 4.25 Sports Club from North Korea in Pool B.
Taipei’s Taiwan Grand lost 12-25, 11-25, 19-25 to Chinese Bayi Army in their Pool D match.
Twelve clubs are participating in the tournament’s four pools with the two top teams from each pool advancing to the second qualification round.
