HÀ NỘI — Jos Koop of Lao BICT won the third stage of the VTV International Cycling Tournament yesterday.

Koop, from France, finished the 158km race from Huế to Quảng Bình Province with a time of 3hr 52.28min.

His victory was his good fortune after the two leading riders, Rick Nobel (BICT) and Nguyễn Minh Việt (Becamex Bình Dương), became lost some 100m from the 6km mark to the finish line.

Koop was followed by Võ Phú Trung of Hạt Ngọc Trời and Quàng Văn Cường from An Giang.

The French cyclist also grabbed the green jersey for the best cyclist with 45 points.

After three stages, Cường topped the ranking table, Koop was second and his teammate, Changpad Kritsada, was in third place.

In the team ranking, Hạt Ngọc Trời was in first place. Domesco Đồng Tháp and Vietnam USA Society English Centre were second and third, respectively.

The fourth stage of the race will be a 140km stretch from Quảng Bình to Nghệ An Province’s Kim Liên Village. — VNS
