HÀ NỘI — Hoàng Xuân Vinh is one of top 10 medallist at the ongoing Rio Olympic Games.

The Vietnamese shooter completed his tournament with one 10m air pistol gold and one 50m pistol silver medal. He ranks seventh on the list of 10.

He is the only athlete from the Southeast Asian region named in this list, and also the only marksman.

After his first gold, Vinh received a congratulatory letter from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nguyễn Ngọc Thiện.

Thiện praised Vinh’s success as a great push for the national sport, in general, and the Việt Nam Team in Rio, in particular.

At the top of the best athletes list are all swimmers, Katie Ledecky of the US with three golds and one silver, Katinka Hosszu of Hungary and Michael Phelps share second place with three golds each. — VNS
