Nam ousted from Vietnam F2’s singles event

Lý Hoàng Nam was stopped at the Vietnam F2 Men’s Futures tennis tournament after losing 4-6, 5-7 to No 6 seed Christopher Rungkat of Indonesia yesterday in Bình Dương Province.

HÀ NỘI — Lý Hoàng Nam was stopped at the Vietnam F2 Men’s Futures tennis tournament after losing 4-6, 5-7 to No 6 seed Christopher Rungkat of Indonesia yesterday in Bình Dương Province.

The two players continued their match which was paused at 4-5 in the first set for Rungkat on Tuesday because of heavy rain.

Rungkat took the serve when the match restarted and quickly finished with a win.

Nam who jumped to world No 871 earlier this week had three chances to take a break in the second set but failed to take a single one.

Rungkat continued with his high performance and stole a break to win.

He will next play Pruchya Isarow of Thailand in the second round.

Nam and his teammate Nguyễn Hoàng Thiên will compete in the doubles event today against Chinese Cao Zhaoyi and Wang Aoran.

Another Vietnamese duo, Trịnh Ling Giang and Vũ Artem will face Yuichi Ito and Kento Takeuchi from Japan. — VNS
