HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam finished third at the ASEAN School Games in Thailand yesterday.

The Vietnamese athletes grabbed 19 gold, 20 silver and 15 bronze medals.

Thailand took top position, winning 56 titles. Indonesia came in second with 30.

On the last day of competition yesterday, Vietnamese track-and-field athletes Lê Trung Đức and Hoàng Thị Trang won gold in the boy’s and girl’s 2,000m steeplechase, Trần Mai Hạnh won the girl’s 200m race, and the Vietnamese girl’s 4x400m relay team also won gold.

The Vietnamese team also pocketed one silver and one bronze medal.

Track-and-field were Việt Nam’s most successful team at the Games with 11 gold medals.

The Games will end on July 29. — VNS
