HCMC win six golds at junior swimming event

HÀ NỘI — HCM City bagged six golds in the first day of competition of the National Junior Swimming Championships in HCM City yesterday.

Among winners, Lê Hoàng Minh An won gold in the 50m breaststroke in the boys’ 12-13 category with a time of 34.47secs.

Lê Hoàng Bảo Ngọc took gold in the 100m freestyle in the girls’ 12-13 division with a time of 1:03.56. While Đặng Hoàng Bảo Tiên brought home a gold in the 200m individual medley of girls’ 12-13.

The squad won more six silvers and five bronzes to take the lead out of 14 teams on the day. The National Defence Sports Centre 4 finished second with five golds, one silver and three bronzes. With four golds, three silvers and one bronze, the National Defence Sports Centre 5 were third.

More than 250 players are competing for 109 sets of medals in the five-day event which will run until Friday.

In the same tournament, Hà Nội topped the medal table by winning 13 gold, six silver and four bronze medals at the National Junior Finswimming Championship.

HCM City came second with nine gold, 14 silver and eight bronze medals, while Thanh Hóa came third with four gold and two bronze medals.

In the open category, 5 National Defence Sports Centre took the lead with eight gold, three silver and five bronze medals.

About 120 finswimmers competed for 58 sets of medals in the four-day event. — VNS
