HÀ NỘI — Thái Sơn Nam FC ensured their berth in the final of the ASEAN Football Federation Futsal Club Championship in Myanmar.

The Vietnamese team yesterday secured an impressive win against Myanmar-MIC FC of the host 4-1 and will play Thai Port FC again in the final on Saturday.

Thái Sơn Nam dominated from the beginning with more than 20 shoot-outs, with two of them being converted into goals by Ngô Ngọc Sơn in the fifth minute and Nguyễn Minh Trí in the 11th.

MIC’s goalkeeper Kyaw Htet Aung blocked the rest.

The hosts changed to power play tactics in the second half but could only grab a goal in the 38th minute after conceding two more goals. Sơn put his name on the score board for the second time together with Trần Văn Vũ.

It is the second time that Thái Sơn Nam are to play Thai Port in the tournament. In their first meeting, Thái Sơn Nam lost 0-4 on Monday.

On the women’s side, defending champions Thái Sơn Nam District 8 FC failed to protect their crown, after losing 3-4 to Thailand-Khon Kaen FC.

Thái Sơn Nam District 8 were 3-1 up and just five minutes away from claiming their place in the final but their opponents had other plans and blasted three goals to celebrate a remarkable victory and sent Thái Sơn Nam District 8 out of the final.

For their incredible efforts, Khon Kaen will face Indonesia-Jaya Kencana Angels in the final on Saturday. The Angels had earlier turned in a powerful performance against Thai-Bangkok FC to win 9-2.
