HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội replaced HCM City to top the National Youth Athletics Championships, which closed in the city’s Thống Nhất Stadium on June 30.
The capital athletes took the lead with 13 gold, six silver and 11 bronze medals after five days of competition.
HCM City, who had established their domination in the annual tournament for years, ended their reign, earning only seven titles.
Vĩnh Long finished third, grabbing six gold medals.
According to young coach Phạm Thị Bình of Quảng Ngãi, it was a successful tournament which saw better results than ever expected.
“The event had a record number of participants, with more than 700 athletes from 57 delegations, and the results exceeded our expectations,” said Southeast Asian Games marathon champion Bình whose athletes brought home one gold and one silver medal. — VNS
