The Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2016 is scheduled to kick off from November to January next year, according to the event’s organisers.

HÀ NỘI — The Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2016 is scheduled to kick off from November to January next year, according to the event’s organisers.

The championship is a football tournament among Mekong teams initiated by Toyota Motor Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (TMAP) in 2014.

The event is expected to attract the participation of five clubs from: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Việt Nam.

Previously, teams played in home and away matches.

Last year, Thailand’s Buriram United took the title and pocketed US$75,000, while Cambodian Boeung Ket Angkor came second with $50,000.
Việt Nam’s Becamex Bình Dương won the debut edition. — VNS
