HÀ NỘI — Mito Hollyhock President Kunio Numata asked Hoàng Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) President Đoàn Nguyên Đức to renew a loan contract with striker Nguyễn Công Phượng for another year.

Although the Nghệ An Province-born footballer Phượng hasn’t contributed much to the J2-League football club due to an injury, the Japanese team still want to extend the contract with Phượng because of his potential and professionalism in the club.

Earlier, promising talent Phượng signed a one-year loan contract with the Japanese club for the 2016 season with a monthly salary of about US$3,000, along with other bonuses.

Phượng was selected to the Việt Nam national team for the upcoming friendly match with Syria on May 31 and a four-sided tournament in Myanmar on June 3 to 6.

In other news, Numata also proposed that Đức allow HAGL striker Nguyễn Văn Toàn to train in Japan alongside Phượng.

However, manager Đức hasn’t answered yet. — VNS
