Vietnamese female boxers hope to have tickets to the Rio Olympics in 2016 via the World Boxing Championships, an Olympic qualifying round, to be held in Kazakhstan today.

HÀ NỘI -- Vietnamese female boxers hope to have tickets to the Rio Olympics in 2016 via the World Boxing Championships, an Olympic qualifying round, to be held in Kazakhstan today.

The team includes Southeast Asian Games champions Lừu Thị Duyên, Lê Thị Bằng and national champion Ngô Thị Chung.

Duyên, who ranked third in the recent Asian zone Olympic qualifier in China, will compete in the women’s 60kg class, Bằng will take part in the women’s 54kg pool, while Chung partakes in 75kg category.

To prepare for the event, Duyên and Chung have had training sessions in Việt Nam under the guidance of Thai coach, meanwhile Bằng underwent intensive practice in the US.

The tournament will run until May 27. – VNS
