TASHKENT, Uzbekistan — Vương Thị Huyền won a silver medal at the Asian Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Sunday.
Huyền finished second in the snatch category with a lift of 87kg in the women’s 48kg. The gold medal went to world gold medalist Tan Yayun of China with a lift of 88kg.
In the clean and jerk, Huyền lifted 100kg but failed in her second and third attempt of 104kg.
With her total lift of 187kg, she finished last out of eight competitors.
Huyền won two gold medals at the same event held last year.
The tournament, which will run until April 30, has brought a total of 161 lifters from 30 countries together and serves as a qualification event for the Olympics. — VNS
