Vietnamese Nguyễn Tiến Minh failed to win his second title of the year, after losing 10-21, 14-21 to Japan’s Kanta Tsuneyama at the final of the Finnish Open badminton tournament yesterday in Vantaa City.

Minh, who was seeded No 1 here, could not maintain his outstanding performance, as he did in previous matches.

He had to work hard to keep up with Tsuneyama, right from the beginning of the match and continuing through his rapid defeat in 33 minutes.

Anna Thea Madsen of Denmark won the women’s title, coming from behind to beat Rira Kawashima of Japan 19-21, 25-23, 21-12.
