HÀ NỘI — Swimmer Nguyễn Diệp Phương Trâm has won a large sponsorship of VNĐ18 billion (US$800,000) to help her secure an Olympic berth.

The money, one of the largest sponsorship deals, will be distributed over nine years for her training at local and international destinations, as well as international competitions.

Trâm is set to win at least one gold medal at the regional Southeast Asian Games in 2017 in Malaysia.

The 15-year-old aims to achieve good results and even make it to the top three positions at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, the Youth Olympics and even the Olympic Games.

Trâm and her Coach Võ Thị Mỹ Trang will fly to the United States in June for a three-month course at the Pleasanton Seahawks Club in California.

Coach Trang will be Trâm’s manager, while American experts will take charge of her technical training.
