Minh enters New Zealand tournament’s quarter-finals

Nguyễn Tiến Minh is the only Vietnamese player left at the SkyCity New Zealand badminton tournament in Auckland City.

Minh defeated Fikri Ihsandi Hadmadi of Indonesia 21-13, 21-12 in the men’s third-round singles match on March 24.

In the quarter-finals, the ninth seed will play No 12 seed Qiao Bin of China who beat No 7 Christie Jonatan of Indonesia 22-24, 21-15, 21-15.
Việt Nam’s Vũ Thị Trang was ousted from the women’s singles event after losing 14-21, 12-21 to third seed Bae Yeon Ju of South Korea.

The tournament ends on Sunday, with the winners heading home with US$10,000. -- VNS
