HÀ NỘI (VNS) – Vũ Thị Hằng secured a berth to compete at the coming Olympics in Brazil on March 20.

Hằng won a silver medal in the women’s 48kg category at the Asian Wrestling Olympic Qualification Tournament in Kazakhstan.

She lost 2-3 to Zhuldyz Eshimova of the host country in the final match.

Hằng, who had won a gold medal at the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar in 2013, began her journey at the Kazakhstan tournament with a great win.

She defeated South Korea’s Lee Yu-mi 10-3 in the quarter-final round. Then she beat So Sim-hyang of North Korea 3-2 in the semi-final match.

Hằng is the second Vietnamese wrestler to secure an Olympic berth, after her senior Nguyễn Thị Lụa secured a berth in the women’s 53kg pool a day earlier.
