HÀ NỘI –  Top Vietnamese badminton player Nguyễn Tiến Minh entered the third round of the ongoing Maurice’s Pools and Spas Waikato International 2016 in Hamilton, New Zealand, on March 17.

First seed Minh defeated Riga Oud of New Zealand 2-0 in the second round.

The Olympian player will next meet Kuo Ching-Hung of Chinese Taipei.

The event will end on March 20.

After the tournament, the HCM City-born player will compete in the New Zealand Open that begins on March 22. He will be the ninth seed at the tournament.

According to the latest announcement of the International Badminton Federation on March 17, Minh slipped two spots to 43rd, while Vũ Thị Trang jumped one spot to 46th in the rankings. – VNS
