Liem drops four steps in February FIDE rankings

HA NOI (VNS) — Vietnamese Grandmaster Le Quang Liem has dropped four places to world No 37 in the FIDE men's world rankings for February.

His total Elo rating fell from 2,718 in January to 2,709.

Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son also fell two places from 105th to 107th.

In the Asia men's rankings, Liem stands ninth and Son is placed 17th.

HCM City-born Minh, who is studying and training in the US, aims to improve his Elo rating and become a top 25 player this year.

The former world blitz champion won the annual SPICE Cup Open last year, the highest rated international invitational tournament in the US. — VNS
