HA NOI (VNS) — Boeung Ket Angkor came from behind to defeat Becamex Binh Duong, former champions of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship, with a 3-2 win yesterday at Ha Noi's Hang Day Stadium.
Chan Vathanaka scored a hat- trick for the Cambodian side after Nsi Amougou opened the scoring just 16 minutes into the match. Another point for the hosts went to captain Nguyen Anh Duc when he scored with a penalty shot near the end of the match.
"I am proud of what my team did today because it is not easy to beat a top team of Viet Nam. I had watched many games of Binh Duong and had my plan," said coach Prak Sovanna.
"My player (Chan) is a talented youth in Cambodia. He scored in almost every game in this tournament.
"I have not thought about the Bangkok game yet, because we still have a match to play in our country before the final," he added.
Meanwhile, coach Nguyen Thanh Son of Binh Duong said it was an unlucky match for the team, which did not score enough goals to win.
In the final match on December 20, Boeung Ket Angkor will play Buriram United of Thailand at Suphachalasai Stadium.
