Hy draws with Sumiya at world chess championships

HA NOI (VNS) — Nguyen Quoc Hy tied in the ninth match at the ongoing World Youth and Cadets Chess Championships in Greece.

Hy, who has an Elo rating of 1583, drew with arch rival Chinguun Sumiya of Mongolia, who has an Elo rating of 2067, after 37 moves.

With seven points, Hy is in fifth position in the boy's U10 category after nine matches. Oglaza Oskar of Poland leads with eight points, followed by Praggnanandhaa R of India and Makoveev Ilya of Russia, with 7.5 points each.

Hy will face Tugstumur Yesuntumur of Mongolia, who is in sixth position with seven points, in the next match.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese player Tran Tuan Minh also tied in the ninth match with Faizrakhmanov Ramil of Russia after 60 moves.

With this draw, Minh (Elo 2444) has 6.5 points and is in eighth position in the boys' U18 division.

Minh will meet Russia's Alekseenko Kirill in the 10th match. It will be a tough game for Minh because Kirill has an Elo rating of 2539 and is in second position with 7.5 points.

Mosadeghpour Masoud of Iran is in first position in this category with 8.5 points, while Yuffa Daniil of Russia is placed third with seven points.
