HCM CITY  (VNS) —  Top Vietnamese tennis player Ly Hoang Nam jumped up five places to No 1045 in the latest Association of Tennis Professionals' world rankings.

18-year-old Nam accumulated 10 points despite being ousted from the Viet Nam Open, which concluded in HCM City on Sunday.

The Tay Ninh province-born player has decided to withdraw from the ATP Pune Challenger in India later this month to focus on training and raising his physical strength for professional events next year.

Nam triumphed in both the men's singles and doubles at the 25th Sarawak Chief Minister's Cup in Malaysia in March and won the 2015 Wimbledon boys' doubles event in July. — VNS
