HA NOI (VNS) — The Hong Kong-Nha Trang International Yacht Race saw fierce competition during the 1,200km journey from Hong Kong to the central Nha Trang City, before it ended on October 18.
Departing from Hong Kong on October 15, nearly 150 sailors steered 12 boats to conquer several challenges such as rough seas, strong winds and complications during the typhoon season.
The Australian Ragamuffin 100 won the tournament after 40 hours of sailing to Nha Trang Bay, breaking the record they set two years ago of 42 hours.
Meanwhile, Black Baza won the first prize in the small boat category and Alive received the first prize in the large boat category.
Launched in 2004, the biennial tournament is organised by the Hong Kong Royal Yacht Club, VinaCapital Vietnam Opportunity Fund Ltd and Saigon Marina Co Ltd.
The tournament aims to showcase coastal tourist destinations such as Nha Trang. It also helps to encourage yacht racing. — VNS
